Why we joined the RCI
Beckers considers sustainability as the most important innovator in our industry during the next ten years. Our ambition is to lead the transformation in our industry and our efforts are guided by our 2030 Sustainability Strategy which includes ambitious goals and sets clear milestones. Since its launch in 2020, we’ve constantly made progress as can be reviewed in our annual sustainability reports (https://sustainability-report.beckers-group.com/index.html).
One of the most challenging parts: around 90% of Beckers product carbon footprint cradle to gate is embedded in our raw materials. In 2022 we started a major supplier integration project (“Towards Renewable Carbon”) with key global suppliers. And in 2023 we began to build our own capabilities for carrying out Life Cycle Assessments. One of the benefits of being part of the RCI is the opportunity to exchange with members on topics arising from this work. As medium-sized player operating in a variety of upstream markets, we continue on this path and consider these external partnerships strategically important.
