“”At Mane, profitable growth is necessarily sustainable growth. The company’s long-term vision means it has always created responsibly, helping to preserve the planet’s resources for future generations.”
MANE, whose raw materials’ quality is renowned worldwide, constantly strives to improve its knowledge and savoir-faire of natural products all-the-while conducting intensive and innovative research programmes for the development and patenting of synthetic molecules.
At MANE, profitable growth is necessarily sustainable growth. The company’s long-term vision means it has always created responsibly, helping to preserve the planet’s resources for future generations.
In 2003, MANE was the first company in the Flavour and Fragrance industry to sign the United Nations’ Global Compact, a voluntary initiative offering companies a framework for doing business more responsibly.
In 2011, the company set a new standard in sustainability by pioneering a unique tool to assess the environmental impact of its ingredients. GREEN MOTION™ uses principles of green chemistry and renewable carbon concept to rate each ingredient on a scale of 0 to 100, offering a basis for chemists to develop more greener products for our customers and support “eco-designed” claims. By integrating GREEN MOTION™ in our creation process, we are able to measure our actual environmental impact. Since its creation, 100 % of our perfumers and flavourists’ palettes were assessed and the GREEN MOTION™ index of our compositions is automatically calculated when they formulate. It helps our R&D and production reduce their environmental footprint.
In 2020, 30 processes were improved with a significantly higher GREEN MOTION™ index.
In recognition of its CSR actions, MANE received the Platinum ranking from EcoVadis in 2020, positioning it in the top 1% of the more than 60,000 companies assessed.
From a family adventure, which began in 1871, when Victor MANE started producing fragrant materials from regional flowers and plant, the small distillery which has continually been run by the MANE family grew successfully to become one of the leading Fragrances and Flavours companies worldwide.
When, in 1995, Maurice MANE retired to become Chairman of the Supervisory Board, his eldest son Jean was appointed President of the MANE Group, and his other son Michel, President of the Americas Region.
Today the Group covers all continents thanks to its 50 R&D centres and its 27 manufacturing sites. It has posted turnover figures which have shown uninterrupted and robust growth over the past ten years.
