Alcogroup
Company Profile
Alcogroup (BE), headquartered in Brussels, is a European leader in the production, trading, and distribution of ethanol—serving both fuel and industrial markets across multiple continents. A key pillar of its mission is to accelerate the transition to a low‑carbon, fossil‑free future, in line with EU’s ambitious 2050 CO₂ emissions targets.
Core Activities
1. Fuel & Industrial Ethanol
Alcogroup produces in Europe bio‑ethanol with a CO2-saving of over 90% against petrol. By offering this renewable alternative, Alcogroup enables millions of European drivers to reduce their CO₂ emissions. Alcogroup also supplies high-purity alcohol for industrial uses – from cosmetics and pharmaceuticals to food, chemicals, and beverages.
2. Integrated Biorefineries
In Belgium (Ghent – Alco Bio Fuel) and the Netherlands (Alco Ennergy Rotterdam), Alcogroup operates large-scale biorefineries that convert corn, other grains and waste material into bio‑ethanol, protein-rich animal feed (DDGS), captured biogenic CO₂, corn oil, and electricity. These facilities exemplify circular-economy processes, maximising resource use and reducing dependency on imports (e.g.fossil fuel and GMO soy).
Mission & Values
Driven by values like integrity, teamwork, entrepreneurship, respect, and passion, Alcogroup is committed to creating sustainable, value-added solutions for the energy, industrial, and agricultural sectors.
Alcogroup actively contributes to the global energy and materials transition by producing low-carbon biofuels, valorizing agricultural resources, cutting greenhouse emissions through cutting‑edge technology and CO₂ capture, and firmly committing to achieve EU’s ambitious 2050 CO₂ emission targets.
