Vioneo: Leading the Way in Sustainable Plastics
Vioneo is transforming the plastics industry by tackling its biggest challenge: the reliance on fossil feedstocks. As businesses face growing pressure to reduce CO2 emissions and embrace circularity, they provide a groundbreaking solution – fossil-free, traceable, and certified plastics made at scale.
Recycling is essential, but it isn’t enough on its own. Virgin polymers are still needed to maintain quality and meet safety demands in industries like medical, food, and automotive. That’s why Vioneo is pioneering the production of polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE) from green methanol. This revolutionary process delivers high-performance, fossil-free polymers that integrate seamlessly into existing production systems, without compromising quality or safety.
Supporting Europe’s Green Transition
Europe is at a turning point in its drive toward a sustainable, circular economy. Vioneo is helping Europe lead by creating a strong market for fossil-free plastics and advocating for the recognition of green methanol as a key biomass feedstock. Their first plant in Antwerp will produce 300,000 tons per year of PP and PE using bio- and E-methanol from agricultural and forestry waste. This ensures sustainability without competing with food resources.
They’ve joined the Renewable Carbon Initiative (RCI) to further their mission of replacing fossil carbon in plastics with renewable alternatives. Through RCI, they are collaborating with like-minded innovators to accelerate the transition to a circular, low-carbon economy.
A Sustainable Future
Backed by A.P. Moller Holdings, Vioneo combines ethical standards with long-term commitment. By offering carbon-negative, drop-in replacement plastics, they help businesses lower emissions and meet tightening regulations. By partnering and collaborating, they aim to close the loop on circularity, build a market for green methanol in Europe, and lead the transition to fossil-free plastics.
