Uniper

“Uniper is an international energy company who announced the strategic decision to be carbon neutral within the European energy generation by 2035 and to provide decarbonization solutions to its customers.”

The innovation team members are active in the carbon capture topic since 2004 and have extended their activities to carbon utilization in 2016. Assessing the different CO2 utilization options we learned how important it also is to understand other sustainable pathways in the area of circular carbon and how complex this topic is for the general public. Therefore, we believe that a common effort to promote renewable carbon as a new feedstock, comprising biogenic carbon, atmospheric carbon and technical carbon is essential for achieving the required backing from legislation, the public acceptance. Renewable carbon can be one piece of the puzzle to avoid that additional carbon from the geosphere is released and thereby support the industrial transformation in light of the energy transition.

Uniper is a leading international energy company with around 11,500 employees and activities in more than 40 countries.
